Scientists and teachers, business leaders and policy makers, and officers for the US Army. USM and its Army ROTC program prepare students to be innovators and leaders for the 21st century. We produce lieutenants for the active Army, the National Guard, and the US Army Reserves. Each component has 16 branches that cater to multiple interests, including infantry, military intelligence, aviation, engineering, armor and medical services corps. Warriors wanted, each with a breadth of perspective who:
- Demonstrate a capacity for excellence
- Confident they will be competent Army leaders because of the rigor of the program
- Committed to the Army for the duration and open-minded about further service

Our courses develop individual leadership and group problem-solving skills, plus you get to experience the out-of-classroom labs that get you adventuring outdoors including: Rappelling, rifle marksmanship, obstacle courses, and land navigation. Contracted students can also participate in adventure training in airborne, air assault and mountain warfare training schools.

The high school Four-Year Scholarship is for high school students planning on attending a four-year college program. You can also recieve a 3-year Advanced Designee scholarship, which means that your scholarship money wouldn't kick in until your sophomore year.
Did you know that Federal Tuition Assistance helps cover 15-18 undergraduate or graduate credit hours per academic year based on your branch of service? Approved TA course hours will be paid with your Federal Tuition Assistance and the TA Gap Funding Program from USM!

2024 STEMEd Speaker Series: Dr. Karina Uhing
Dr. Karina Uhing, assistant professor and director of mathematics education research at University of Nebraska Omaha, will be the lecturer. The STEMEd Speaker Series, organized as part of a seminar class by the Center for STEM Education, features invited scholars who share their research and expertise on a variety of STEM topics.

Women in STEM Meeting at North Academic Building
Anne Casey, district ranger for the DeSoto National Forest U.S. Forest Service, will be the guest speaker at the Women in STEM meeting on the Gulf Park campus. The meeting is from 12:15-1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, at the North Academic Building, room 102. Lunch will be provided.

String Chamber Honors Recital at University Baptist Church
The Southern Miss School of Music Strings Division offers its final recital this semester, with performances given by student groups of all types and genres.

Repertory Dance Company Fall Concert B at Theatre and Dance Building
Join the Repertory Dance Company for itsr Fall Concert B. RDC is the University of Southern Mississippi Dance Program’s student dance company. RDC produces repertory works each year by faculty, students and guest artists. This fall features new work from dance faculty member Brianna Jahn. Wind Ensemble in Concert at Bennett Auditorium
The Wind Ensemble is one of the premiere musical ensembles of Southern Miss. The organization presents several concerts throughout the academic calendar, spanning a variety of styles such as traditional and avant-garde. Performances since 1985 have included Mississippi Bandmasters Association Conventions, All-South Honor Band, three regional College Band Directors National Associations and two National Conventions of the American Bandmasters Association. The Wind Ensemble is under the direction of Catherine Rand.
